Way back in 1950, Dr. K. H. Patel, at present the head of Patel Group
of  Industries, had  graduated   in  Chemical  Engineering  from  the
Witwatersrand   University, South   Africa. Obtained   Master's  from
University  of  Southern   California  and  Doctorate  from  Columbia
University - New York, left U. S. A. and came down to India.

With an enormous volume of desire and dream to contribute towards the
industrial  development in this country, he set up an industrial unit
called  Indosal  Chemicals to pioneer manufacturing of Salicylic Acid
in India, with his own patented process. This was the first  brick in
the   foundation   of  Patel  Group  of  Industries. Since  then, the
innovative  abilities of Dr. Patel, the sculptor of Patel Group, have 
carried  the  march of progress. In 1960, after successful endeavours
at   Indosal, a   proprietary   concern,  Chemical   Development  and
Construction    Corporation   came   into  existence. This  aimed  at
fabricating  Chemical  Plants on turn-key basis.In 1968, he pioneered
manufacturing  Nitro  Benzene  and  in  1976 Aphanaphthylamine in the
chemical  division  of the same concern. A leap forward to shaping of
Patel  Group  of  Industries, M/s. Arun Chemi-Dyes was established in
1968  which  undertook  manufacturing  of  Sodium  Napththionate, and
exporting the group products started in 1987.

R & D is the backbone of our group. Our central R & D wing constantly
striving  for  innovation  concerning  quality  assurance and product
development.Our efforts here have sucessfully established manufacture
of BON Acid, Parachloroaniline.

Here  various  research, projects  are  undertaken such as Industrial
waste  treatment, Development  of  nonconventional  energy resources,
development of human/cattle feed from Sugar plant waste.

Management :
Dr.  Patel, in  overall  management  of the group, is assisted by his
sons  Himanshu, graduate  in  Engineering, Sharad  also  graduate  in
Engineering, and  Nilesh, graduate  in  Chemistry and a team of about
200 people involving professionals and expertised personnel.

Sales Turnover :
Sales  of the group in 1991-92 was Rs. 120 Million, for 1992-1993 was
Rs.  130  Million  and  for  the  current year ended 1996 has touched
Rs. 200 Million.

H. L. Engineers :
Manufactures  Chemical  Plants  and  Allied  Machinery, have fabricated
and   commissioned  all  chemical  plants   of  the  group  apart  from
fabricating  plants  for  other  manufacturing  units under third party
inspection.
